June 2018:

Before the big departure for New Zealand I give myself a spring immersion of 5 days in the Natural Park of Alpilles. First to rendezvous mosquitoes, the absolute need to have water in quantity because in my 55 kms besides the passages in town, I will find only one water point.

I start with the Romanesque abbey next to Tarascon, built in a limestone rock, it dates from the 6th century AD. It was a place of pray of Christians of the East (Egypt):

The next day I attack the walk :

Going through Les Baux de Provence:

And St-Rémy-de-Provence, where I pose in the garden of the cloister glued to the Polyclinic of Mausol where Vincent Van Gogh made a stay:

And a very beneficial swim in the ancient water reserve of Glanum, ancient city before the creation of St Rémy

But already I turn to the South of the Alpilles and cross in one day the park in all its width, choosing the most complicated way. By force of arms I take the steep stairs that lead to the hill that culminates the area and takes advantage of the limestone landscape and the many eroded rocks

On the other side thousands of olive trees are waiting for me and the plain

For the rest it's in New Zealand and in winter, see you soon !!
